Acupuncture for Sciatica

What is Sciatica?

Sciatica is a group of symptoms that include:

  • Leg pain, and/or leg cramp
  • Excruciating, shooting pain that makes standing or sitting almost impossible
  • Pain that worsens when you sit, cough, or sneeze
  • Pins and needles in extremities (burning or tingling)Sciatic pain can come on suddenly or gradually and can last for up to six weeks or longer. There are many conditions that cause symptoms of sciatica: a pinched nerve, herniated disc, narrowing of the spinal canal, slipped disc, and muscle spasms, to name a few.

Get pain relief from sciatica without medications or surgery

The good news is that acupuncture is effective for treating sciatica and can eliminate the need for pain medications. Depending on the root cause of sciatica, acupuncture can correct the balance of energy so your body heals itself. In cases, where surgery is necessary to correct the problem, acupuncture can speed up recovery and help with pain management.

A Testimonial for Acupuncture to Help Sciatica

“My name is Lee Smith and I am a drywall contractor specializing in kitchen and bath remodels. Over the years, I’ve misused my back and developed an injury diagnosed as herniated disc in the lower lumbar region of my back. I’ve always had some pain and decided to try acupuncture with Dr. Tran-Olive.

After one session, I noticed significant relief in that area of my back. I now have acupuncture periodically to help me manage my injury. Dr. Tran-Olive has had significant training in lower back problems and I recommend her highly.”
